General description

Wonderfully located high above the wild romantic Ranna and Danube valleys you find Altenhof Castle which since over 400 years is in the possession of the counts of Salburg-Falkenstein. The charm of the old walls and the green oases of peace and quiet can now be enjoyed by guests when renting the nicely furnished and cosy holiday apartments.

The chapel, supposedly the largest private church still in use in Austria is ideal for a romantic wedding, followed by a reception in the park or in the old theatre hall. The different rooms or salons in the castle are also suitable for other celebrations or can be adapted for seminars followed by discussions in front of the open fireplace. All the cosy and comfortable apartments in the castle or its immediate vicinity have a direct access to the park, which is a big advantage for families with children and animals.

Whether in the Castle itself or in its beautiful surroundings, there are few holiday wishes that cannot be fulfilled; there are tennis courts on the castle grounds, fishing and hunting possibilities, as well as a golf course and an animal park close by. The largely untouched nature provides a beautiful setting for walks, bicycling and horse-back riding. The Danube at 3km distance offers plentiful possibilities for a variety of holiday activities.
